Getting Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

Make more impact + income

Hey Beauty pro,

Let’s face it, getting comfortable with being uncomfortable isn’t easy!

Like most of you, I enjoy being comfortable. But, if there is one thing I’ve learned over the course of my career is that there’s been no shortage of opportunities to feel uncomfortable. When it comes to growing your business, perhaps the thought of stepping out of your comfort zone might send you into such a state of discomfort that it is enough for you to put off even getting started! But if you want to make more impact + income, be prepared to feel uncomfortable.

I get it.

More than two years ago, I stepped away from a successful career as a former haircare partner and VP of education. I found myself in an extremely uncomfortable position of having to adapt to a new business reality, but I had no idea what that new reality looked like.

Things were about to get uncomfortable.

At first it seemed impossible to shift my focus from leading teams along with day-to-day interactions in LIVE learning environments. But, in order to pave the way for my new venture and reach my goals, I was going to need guidance and direction from professionals who knew what I didn’t know. It was time to become a student again. The only way to remain relevant and in the game was to re-focus, re-calibrate and learn new tools that would help me adapt to new technology trends in order to continue to offer education to this community of beauty pros.

My goal became crystal clear.

I wanted to launch an online education platform.

In 2020, getting comfortable with being uncomfortable paid off!

I aligned with a talented young team of digital superstars who helped me build and launch House Of Harbinger. In order to step into this new reality, I became digitally literate and fluent and redirected my original career path to create a comprehensive and transformative program,THE BEAUTY SCHOOL SEQUEL. Each lesson is loaded with tools and concepts that combines two sciences, (1) Cosmetology and (2) Psychology. This specific format currently doesn’t exist within our community, which is why I was so excited to create it! I know from first-hand experience as a salon partner and education leader that strengthening 4 key areas will help you create remarkable and unforgettable client experiences. I only wish I had this type of program available to me when I was stepping into entrepreneurship.

The truth is, this is just the tip of the iceberg!

It all begins with uncovering everything you didn’t learn in beauty school. In this new era of business growth, technical services alone are no longer enough to attract and retain a loyal lasting clientele. The lessons inside will teach you everything you need to know about growing and sustaining a successful business beyond technical services. I’m so excited to share this program with you along with other passionate beauty pros, so stay tuned for more details. Get ready to set yourself up for business success!

Everything you didn’t learn in Beauty School

These five helpful tips will prepare you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable

✔️ There is never a right time other than NOW

  • Getting started is always the most difficult part.

  • Take action, even if it feels uncomfortable to do so.

  • There is always more to learn, so consider being lifelong student.

For me, NOW means that this is the moment to continue to share 35 years of experience, knowledge and insight with beauty pros.

✔️Acknowledge the situation

  • What is the best and worst case scenario that can come from taking stock in your current situation?

  • What is necessary for you to do in order to reach your goals?

For me, the current situation is to share the wins and learns throughout my career within every House Of Harbinger program so that every beauty who needs guidance and direction in their business has access to the right kind of support and practice.

✔️Embrace growth.

  • You have to be willing to let go of the familiar and comfortable things that got you to this point

  • Growth means letting go of what is and diving into what’s possible.

I would never have been able to launch this online learning portal without learning to become digitally literate.

✔️ Build a network.

  • Meet new people outside your social network.

  • Open yourself up to new perspectives and opportunities.

There are many young and brilliant professionals who know more than I know when it comes to creating online learning opportunities. Forging relationships with young industry rockstars have been the catalyst of my recent success and they are eager to offer their expertise.

✔️ Recognize your accomplishments

Sometimes all it takes to get comfortable again is to reflect on your past accomplishments.

Celebrate the big and small wins.

  • This will give you a sense of hope and encouragement.

Creating an online program for you has been a big win, but the bigger win will be watching you step out of your comfort zone so that you can continue to learn and grow!
